Murad Skincare Review | Moisturizer, Night Cream & Chemical Peel

October 05, 2017

I'm very excited to share about these Murad products i've tested for a month. I was given the opportunity to choose products from Murad to blog about (lucky me!). I literally scanned every product they had and the ingredients in them. I always pay close attention to skincare ingredients because I can see the quality of a product, if it will be effective and determine if it will cause me acne. I avoid parabens, pore-clogging ingredients or too many cheap ingredients like mineral oil etc.

Not considering how expensive a product was, I was most interested in the products listed below. Not only were they best for my skin concerns, but they had effective ingredients, were paraben free, had positive reviews and had no unnecessary cheap/filler ingredients. Murad has a small selection of products that seemed average to me and a larger selection of good products but these were stand out products I noticed. I was provided 3 of the products listed below, and it seems I was right in my thinking. They're awesome. Pricey, but I feel are worth it. I've never had products give me what they claim to do without issues. No acne at all.
  1. Advanced Active Radiance Serum
  2. Hydro-Dynamic Ultimate Moisture
  3. Complete Reform
  4. Transforming Powder
  5. City Skin Overnight Detox Moisturizer
  6. Rapid Resurfacing Peel Wipes
This is $78 CAD on Murad Canada.

This is the best moisturizer i've used to date. It's a very moisturizing moisturizer -ha. It's creamy and emollient without being greasy. It's more emollient than the City Skin Overnight Detox Moisturizer, which is thicker and less slippery. Unlike many moisturizers i've tried, this one doesn't dry down to a hard glycerin layer or 'pill'. It doesn't break me out or aggravate acne at all. Also, it's fragrance free.

I love this because it quenches my skin, soaking into it. I apply this under my eyes and on my face right after i've washed it and before foundation application. I think of it as a coating of protection.

They need to change the packaging on this product though. According to Beautypedia, the antioxidants break down when introduced to air. Not sure how I much I buy that, but it is less sanitary to scoop product out. Also, there's a lot of plastic to house this cream...

This is $90 CAD on Murad Canada.

I like to put a generous layer of this moisturizer on my skin before bed to wake up to supple feeling skin. This is a night cream, but you can definitely use it in the day as well. Because it's a heavier cream, I apply this where I could use extra moisture - on dry patches of skin. I prefer the Hydro-Dynamic Ultimate Moisture over this texture-wise, because it's lighter. But like I said, this is a night cream - and a good one! Full of ingredients that are good for skin. I don't notice much of a fragrance either which is awesome.

The packaging on this moisturizer is a HUGE WIN. You push down on a button and it dispenses cream. So useful! There is no contamination with this design.

This is $55 CAD on Murad Canada.

These are ideal for people with rough skin, an uneven complexion or dark spots.

I was scared to use these. I know glycolic acid could either go good or bad for skin. There's a concept called purging, where chemical exfoliation brings all your deep pimples to the surface, mimicking a breakout. I don't know if it's legit but a lot of people complain about it happening. I was also afraid the alcohol in this would break me out or dry out my skin.

But none of those bad things happened. Instead, they made my skin super smooth and a little brighter just like they claimed to do!

These were a joy to use. I love the texture of their solution. It's super slippery, instead of dry like I thought it would be. It totally glides on the skin. It's very hard to describe but they leave a super satisfying wet layer on the skin that dries down to a tacky feeling. I notice maybe a little sting where I have a micro wound on my skin. This is totally normal. The wipes are textured which is perfect because they remove the top layer of dead skin cells so that the product can work more deeply.

I get 3 uses out of every wipe. That's 48 treatments for me. I cut my wipe in 3 pieces. That's all I need to completely saturate my face. I put back what I haven't used, bending back down the opening and securing it with 2 bobby pins. I alternate using these every 2 days as I don't want to overdo it.

If you have sensitive skin or have never used chemical exfoliation in your life, these are probably not for you. They weren't too strong for my skin but were effective. My skin has experienced more mild chemical exfoliates before so that might be why I had no problems.
