Bite Beauty Matte Creme Lip Crayon VS Amuse Bouche Lipstick

by - January 22, 2017

I have to say, Bite Beauty makes one of my favourite lipsticks ever. There's just something great about them. The smell, the creaminess, the high pigmentation and above all, the way they look amazing on the driest of lips. I recommend them to anyone looking to splurge on a lipstick, especially a natural one.

I recently tried their Matte Creme Lip Crayons. These have the same creamy feel as the Amuse Bouche lipsticks but the ingredients and scent differ. These smell a little like molasses and rum? It's hard to describe, but I would prefer a more subtle scent. Every shade is matte with an bit of a sheen finish. For a true matte finish, you'd want to blot these and set them with a translucent powder. The packaging is a win! Every crayon comes with a built in sharpener at the bottom. When I found it by accident, I was so excited. I tried it, and it worked perfectly! Some might see a problem with this feature. What do you do with a product you just shaved off? I like to keep it in the sharpener or use my finger or lower the lipstick and smear it back in the tube. I don't mind that little inconvenience for an occasional sharp tip when I need it.

The shade Cava is my baby! I LOVE IT. It's one of these trendy nude-greige shades. It's exactly the same shade as 'Native Nude', from the now discontinued/revamped Sephora Nano Lipliners. It's a slightly odd but interesting, cool toned beige nude. I can pull it off on my pale skin. This shade might not be for everyone. If you like greige colours, you'll love this one.

The shade Glace is a pretty, dusty pink-mauve colour. It's a mid-dark shade. All skin tones will look great in this. This will be a dark lip look on pale girls and nude on deep skintones. It's a standard, highly wearable shade. It appears darker in person than in my photos.

Red Velvet is a sexy deep red. For reference, Nars Cruella is very close, but more blue in undertone than Red Velvet. You might remember Nars Cruella from a previous years Sephora birthday gift. It also appears darker in person than in my photos. It's a deep geisha red.

Should you buy their Matte Creme Lip Crayon OR Amuse Bouche lipstick?

Both lipstick formulas are equally good. But you get a lot more product with the Amuse Bouche lipstick for the exact same price as the Matte Creme Lip Crayon. The only thing their lip crayon has on their original lipstick is the fact that you get a nice pointed tip that can be sharpened. It makes your lip edges clean and sharp.

If you really like lip crayons or pointed tip lipsticks, then you'll obviously like their lip crayon. If you don't care whether or not you have that feature, then their original lipsticks are certainly the way to go. You get more than twice the amount of product for the same price.

Matte Creme Lip Crayon         Amuse Bouche Lipstick
0.05 oz (about 1.5 g) for $28         0.15 oz/4.35 g for $28

Overall, I like these a lot!
